Calamity Affected Lifestyle Modification (CALM)

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines “health” as the state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease. Mental-health is an important component of the well-being of people exposed to disasters and critical to successful rehabilitation and development of societies in the aftermath.

Any disaster affects people emotionally; grief and depression are commonly seen among survivors of a disaster, especially if they have lost family members or friends. Emotional problems following disasters often tend to be neglected.

The aim of the course is to ensure better coping capacity with calamities by providing
- training on Psychosocial First Aid,
- techniques of stress management,
- conducting counselling sessions
- creating group specific psychosocial modules.
